Seeley, 87ers Rally Past Drive

NEWARK, DE – Jan. 9, 2015 – The Delaware 87ers needed five points in the final 67 seconds to come from behind and take pole position against the Grand Rapids Drive, 107-103 at the Bob Carpenter Center on Friday night.

Shooting 50 percent from the floor (40-of-80) and beyond the arc (11-of-22), the 87ers were led by 26 points from leading scorer D.J. Seeley, who filled that stat sheet with seven assists and seven boards as well. The team’s leading scorer, Seeley has now scored at least 20 points in seven straight games. Delaware (7-10) forward Ronald Roberts, Jr. recorded his eighth double-double of the season, posting 18 points and a game-high 14 rebounds.

Grand Rapids (10-9) dropped their third straight game, but was led by 15 points from Willie Reed, who also added nine rebounds. Four players recorded 14 points for the Drive – Hasheem Thabeet, Lorenzo Brown, Kammeon Holsey and L.D. Williams.

Delaware won the battle of the boards, out-rebounding Grand Rapids 43-37, while the two teams tied with 48 points in the paint.

It’s the third straight win at home for the 87ers, who host Fort Wayne on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. Grand Rapids will make their way to Erie on the second night of a back-to-back, tipping off against the BayHawks at 7:00 p.m.
